TikTok was like, “Yeah we want more users and we want those users from Snapchat, so we bought a truckload of Snap ads. Could you make a ton of videos by tomorrow or the day after?”
So that’s what this project is: A ton of videos, shot in not a ton of time, edited in even less time, all to let people know that TikTok has more capabilities, more tools, more filters, better content and more funny things than Snapchat. We scripted and shot 75 scripts in a month, then edited 150 videos from that content in another month. Each video capitalizes on an ownable aspect of TikTok, like the fact that they own swiping up to discover new content, or the sound editing styles or unique brand of humor only found on TikTok.
We picked up a Webby Honoree for the “Best Mobile Advertising Campaign” category.
[Fun fact: I wrote most of my scripts for this project in a car while traveling all over Colorado, and while waiting at the Washington, DC DMV on an arduous Saturday morning.]
